(KWMN)- In a battle between #1 and #2, the Cochrane-Foutain City Pirates will try to remain perfect against the Pepin-Alma Eagles.
The #1 Pirates are off to another 4-0 start, mirroring the success they had in the 2025 season. They have outscored their opponents 184-12, but tonight will be their first true test of the season when they face the #2 Pepin-Alma Eagles. The Pirates and Eagles faced each other this time last year, in what was the closest game CFC had seen all season. The end result of these two titans in Division 7 football clashing? A 15-14 victory for the Pirates after a successful 2-point conversion in the final seconds of regulation. Parker Kujak threw for 101 yards and no TDs in that game, but did have 82 yards on the ground with one rushing touchdown.
The Pirates will have some momentum after a 47-6 dismantling of Blair-Taylor one week ago in the first game of the home stand. Parker Kujak went 2/2 through the air with one passing touchdown, but showed himself as a two-way threat with two rushing touchdowns and 67 yards. Aidan Lisowski added three more rushing touchdowns to bring his season total up to 13, and 191 more yards on the ground on just 12 carries. Cochrane-Fountain City stands at #6 in the state power index, but #1 across Division 7 Football.
#2 Pepin-Alma has also started the season 4-0 in a similar fashion, outscoring their opponents 192-25. This will be just their second game on the road, starting three of their first four at home. They are one week past a 39-13 victory over Melrose-Mindoro, where starting JR QB Black Carlson went 6/8 with 150 yards and one passing touchdown, alongside a rushing touchdown. SR running back Anders Seifert surged for 141 yards and three touchdowns on the ground, on just 23 carries, while senior WR Eli Krause hauled in two catches for 98 yards and one receiving touchdown.
