(KWMN)- #1 Cochrane-Fountain City Pirates (5-0) heads into the north to face the Eleva-Strum Cardinals (1-4) in a Dairyland conference matchup.
The Pirates retained their place atop the rankings in the division 7 poll after a 21-6 victory over the (at the time) #2 team in the state, the Pepin-Alma Eagles. CFC held the Eagles to just 230 yards of offense, with only 12 coming through the air. Senior Parker Kujak had an INT, with the Pepin-Alma QB finishing with only two complete passes. Pepin-Alma scored just once and failed the 2-point conversion, for only 6-points. All three of CFC’s touchdowns came via the run, with three different pirates (Maverick Arneson, Dylan Hager, and Parker Kujak) punching it into the endzone. The Pirates have won their last five straight, with a combined score of 205-18.
The Eleva-Strum Eagles are coming off a hard-fought victory over Blair-Taylor, 34-32, with their latest loss being just a 2-point 22-20 loss to Augusta. In the win over Blair-Taylor, senior QB Lucas Grangaard completed 7/11 through the air for 99 yards and one passing touchdown, while senior RB Brock Stendahl got it done on the ground with 131 yards and two rushing touchdowns. The Cardinals have one of the best secondaries in the conference, with 3 INT, two of which belong to senior Bo Windjue, and both coming in the same win over Blair-Taylor.
