(KWMN)- The #1 Cochrane-Fountain City Pirates face off against the Royall Panthers tonight for the home opener.

Cochrane-Fountain City is ranked as the #1 team in Division 7 WIAA Football going into week 2 of the regular season. They are returning home after a dominant 35-0 in over the Brookwood Falcons, during which the Pirates had 4 rushing touchdowns courtesy of Aidan Lisowski, who also had 144 yards on 15 carries. Starting QB Parker Kujak threw for 136 yards and went 10/11 on completions. His only passing TD of the game was a 42-yard pass to Maverick Arneson. On the defensive side of the ball, sophomore Nash Noeldner led the charge with 8 tackles, while Jaxson Aune and Aidan Lisowski both collected sacks.

Royall is on the road for the first time this season, traveling 2 hours to play on the banks of the Mississippi River. They look to build momentum from their first win, a hard fought 22-18 victory over the Westby Norsemen. Senior RB Jett Bender surged for 259 yards on 35 carries including a rushing TD, but that wasn’t the only TD he had. Bender also scooped up a fumble and rank it back for the score. QB Braxton Board only had 5 completions on 10 attempts, with 71 yards and a TD. The only passing TD of the game was a 28-yard throw to Travis Hafemeister.

These two teams saw each other exactly one year ago to the day, in what was a 41-0 victory for the Pirates. In that game, QB Parker Kujak went 3/5 for 126 yards and 1 passing TD, while Braxton Board managed 3/8 with only 28 yards. Both teams went on winning streaks after that game however, as the Pirates won the next 3 straight with shutouts, while Royall bounced back with a 50-12 win over New Lisbon.
