STATE TOURNAMENT GAME PREVIEW: Cotter Baseball vs. Cannon Falls

By Liam Statz Jun 11, 2026 | 12:00 PM

(KWMN)- The #5 seed Cotter Ramblers (24-3) will take on the #4 seed Cannon Falls Bombers (20-6) today in the first round of the Class AA State Tournament at Dick Putz Field.

The Ramblers have not lost a game since May 9th, a 2-6 loss to Holy Family Catholic. Since then, they have outscored their opponents 76-21. Cotter has had plenty of rest since their section championship winning game on June 2nd, an 11-5 win over Rochester-Lourdes. Cotter jumped out to an early lead in that game, putting up three runs in the bottom of the first. The Ramblers only increased their lead over the next three innings, going up 7-1 by the fifth.

Rochester would not go quietly however, putting a four spot on the Ramblers in the top of the fifth inning. Cotter responded in kind however, dropping four runs of their own enroute to the 11-5 win. It was the Ramblers’ first section Championship since 2008.

Cannon Falls won the 2AA section by avenging a loss to Le Sueur-Henderson, coming back through the elimination bracket and defeating the Giants in two games. The Bombers have won eight of their last 10, and four of their last five. Cannon Falls has notable wins over strong opponents, such as a 3-1 win over Lake City, and an 8-67 win over the Kasson-Mantorville Comets.

The quarterfinal game is scheduled for a 6:00PM first pitch, with the pregame live at 5:45PM. Listen live on KWMN 99.3, or by using the link below:
