(KWNO)-Losse change can add up. That’s the idea behind a program led by MiEnergy Cooperative.

Operation Round Up is funded by donations made by members of the Rushford based Co-Op who voluntarily have their electric bill round up to the next dollar. The average donation is $6 per year and 2,200 MiEnergy members participate with 100% of the funds generated going to local organizations. Currently, the program gives away approximately $14,000 each year, according to a press release. Several organizations in Winona County will receive donations including Rushford-Peterson Schools and St. Charles United Methodist Church.

Donations to Operation Round Up are tax deductible. Organizations receive grants through an application process. The next application deadline is August 15. To learn more about Operation Round Up or to round up your electric bill, visit www.MiEnergy.coop or call 1-800-432-2285.
