Strong Thunderstorms Knock Out Trees, Power in Winona

WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-Strong thunderstorms wreaked havoc in Winona and the surrounding communities Tuesday evening.  

Downed tree limbs blocked traffic along with areas of Huff, Sarnia, 5th, and Center Streets. Residents also reported uprooted trees landing on homes and garages.

Residents of the Washington Crossing Apartments reported damage to the building’s chimney.  

East end residents and downtown businesses reported power outages. The National Weather Service received reports of downed trees and heavy rains in communities throughout southeast Minnesota and southwest Wisconsin.  

Officials north of Wabasha reported heavy rain caused a rockslide along Highway 61.
