WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-A La Crosse man is behind bars for allegedly leading multiple state, county, and local law enforcement agencies on a chase Sunday night.

The Winona County Sheriff’s Office, which assisted the State Patrol in the chase, says a trooper attempted to pull the suspect over on eastbound Interstate 90 in Olmsted County after reports of the subject discharging a firearm from the vehicle. The suspect refused to pull over and led authorities on a chase through Winona County, according to authorities.

Officers say the suspect avoided stop sticks near the Houston exit and at one point entered the westbound lanes of I-90 while still traveling east. The suspect ran into stop sticks near the Dakota exit and fled his vehicle on foot near the Dresbach exit, law enforcement officials say.

Authorities say the state patrol helicopter later located 34-year-old Dionte J, Jenkins.  He was arrested roughly two hours after the attempted traffic stop for suspicion of fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle.

St. Charles, Lewiston, and Winona Police Departments joined the Winona County Sheriff’s Office in assisting the state patrol.

Winona Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy who allegedly shot another teenager in the eye with a BB gun. According to a WPD spokesperson, officers made the arrest Monday afternoon at a residence in the 150 block of East 8th Street. The boy did live there and was possibly hiding out from police. He's charged with second-degree assault and threats of violence. Investigators say last Saturday a group of teenagers was hanging out in the playground area at the old Madison School. A confrontation arose and the boy shot the girl in the eye with the BB gun from "two to three steps away." The spokesperson said the victim does not appear to be seriously injured as she was struck in the eyelid, and the BB did not puncture the eye.
