(KWNO) The Winona Winhawk softball team goes for all the marbles today. They’re in the state tournament championship against Becker. Winona won both games in dramatic fashion, beating Sartell in Game 1 6-5 thanks to a late home run then knocking off the top seed Mankato West 7-6 in 8 innings Tuesday. St. Charles will also go for the class 2A state softball title. They edged out Mounds Park Acadamy 2-1 in 9 innings in their first game then cruised into the title game with an 8-2 victory over Pipestone Tuesday. The Saints will face top seed LeSure-Hendersen at noon.
A magical postseason run came to an end for Wabasha Kellogg. They lost their opening game of the state tournament to Browerville 2-1 in 8 innings. The Falcons finished the season 15-12.
The Twins were shut out by the Seattle Mariners, losing 10-0 last night. They mustered just four hits in the lopsided defeat. Starter JA Happ surrendered 5 runs and 9 hits in 4 innings. Twins wrap up their series at Seattle tonight. Coverage starts at 8:30 on AM 1230/98.7 FM KWNO.
The Bucks couldn’t withstand a late run from the Brooklyn Nets as they dropped a pivotal game 5 114-108. The Nets have a 3 games-to-2 series lead thanks to Kevin Durant, who scored 49 points, grabbed 17 boards, and dished out 10 assists. Giannis Antetokounmpo tallied 34 points and snagged 12 rebounds. Game 6 is set for tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. in Milwaukee.
