(KWMN)- The Trojans look to get back into the win column tonight against Triton.
Rushford-Peterson fell in overtime 18-25 to the Caledonia Warriors, in what was an instant classic. In a back-and-forth battle, the Trojans trailed 6-10 at the half. Two second half touchdowns (one passing, one rushing) pushed Rushford-Peterson into the lead, but a late TD and two-point conversion by Caledonia tied things up, before the Warriors scored in OT for the win. Creighton Ness threw for 68 yards for the Trojans including one 34-yard zip to Ayden Garrett for the TD. On the ground, Owen Lange rushed for 149 yards and two TDs, which was game-leading. Defensively the Trojans were led by Carson Johnson with 11 tackles, and Creighton Hoiness with a forced fumble.
Triton started their year off with a shootout win over Goodhue, 21-14. The Cobras jumped out to the early 6-0 lead after a 60-yard pick-6 by Braxton Kross (Triton failed to convert the extra point). Goodhue answered back in the second, with a 41-yard toss from Jackson Lodermeier to Owen Roschen to take the lead by one. Triton would not stay behind however, with Graden Thomas taking it inside the 15 for the rushing TD and the lead, before throwing a 2-point conversion to Koss. The dagger came after Koss returned a Goodhue punt 65-yards. Goodhue showed life just before half-time however, with Jay Ryan rushing from 22-yards out to put the Wildcats to within 1-posession. Neither team scored in the entire second half however, and Cocbras took the opening matchup 21-14.
