(KWMN)- The Cotter Ramblers start the season anew on the road against the La Crescent-Hokah Lancers.
The Ramblers look to build on where they left off, after falling short in the Section Championship to Pine Island. Cotter has to deal with the loss of starting QB Dane Guzzo, senior WRs John Gibson and Kaiden Diaczun, and starting TE Isaac Meinke. They also saw the departure of Daniel Gaedy and Matthew Laschenski, both seniors OL/DL. Cotter made it to the section championship last season for the first time since 2007, and started things off with a win over La Crescent-Hokah. In that game Cade Cummings ran for 175 yards and one rushing TD on just 10 carries. He returns for his senior season with Cotter, and steps into the role of RB1.
La Crescent-Hokah finished 1-8 last season with their only win coming against Red Wing 63-29. The Lancers retain most of their starters, and a large core of veterans who return for their senior seasons including starting QB Maverick Moor, who threw for 516 yards last season and seven passing TDs.
