(KWMN)- The Pirates kick off their 2026 campaign with an excursion to Ontario, WI where they will face the Brookwood Falcons for round two of a home-and-home series.
Cochrane-Fountain City starts the season off ranked #1 (via BOUNDWI) after their undefeated regular season and school record 13-1 season last year. That streak of dominance included 8-shutouts, and 490 total points compared to their opponents 91. The Pirates will be without their leading TD scorer, as Ethan Smith graduated with 23 total rushing TDs and 1002 yards. CFC is also now without their two leading receivers, in WR Tye Popp (567 yards and 5 TDs) and TE Steve Meyer (361 yards and 5 TDs), as well as a good chunk of the starting line. Starting QB Parker Kujak returns for his senior season, ending last season with 1,440 yards and 12 passing TDs, alongside leading rusher Aidan Lisowski who put up 1,061 yards in 2025.
Brookwood enters the season ranked #15 (via BOUNDWI). The Falcons tied for 2nd place in the Scenic Bluffs Conference but fell to the Cashton Eagles in the first round of the WIAA playoffs. Brookwood lost their top three rushers to Graduation this past offseason, with Jackson Kunitz (659 yards, 6 TDs), Owen Wang (434 yards, 5 TDs), and Drew Powell (277 yards, 3 TDs) all needing to be replaced.
Tonight’s matchup will answer questions for both teams, as the Dairyland Conference crosses into enemy territory to take on the Scenic Bluffs. Cochrane-Fountain City vs Brookwood live on KWMN 99.3 FM, The Fan Winona, with the pregame at 6:45PM.
