May 27, 2026 | 9:25 AM

James (Jim) Leonard Ziegeweid, of Arcadia WI, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 24th, 2026. Born in Arcadia on October 26, 1938, Jim built a life of commitment to God, family, and country and was known for having a grateful attitude above all.

Over the years Jim enjoyed cultivating relationships with his family and community and enjoyed friendships with army buddies and close high school friends even in his final weeks. Those who knew him will remember his love for all things agriculture, history, storytelling, and his keen memory of details most of us would forget.

Jim cherished his time growing up with his 13 siblings on the family farm in Glencoe, attending Arcadia schools, farming with his brothers before serving in the Army while stationed in Hawaii, attending Winona State, and meeting his lovely bride while obtaining double degrees in Business Administration and Speech. He served with the National Farmers Organization (NFO), and was a member and chair of the Wisconsin State Board of Agriculture Trade and Consumer Protection, and was appointed to represent Governor Earl at an international trade conference in Taiwan. Of all his many accomplishments and titles, he most valued being a husband, father, and grandfather.

Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Judy (Rose); his four children, Stephen (Karen), Adam, Allison (Scott), and Nancyanne; and his 12 grandchildren, James, Jack, Kealey, and Kennedy Ziegeweid, Catherine Pehler-Ziegeweid and Daniel Ziegeweid, William and Truman Wright, and Zoa, Annarose, Nehemiah, and Nathanael Winey. He is also survived by siblings, David, Bernard, and Gregory Ziegeweid, Mary Boschee; and treasured nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilmer and Zoa (Hansen) Ziegeweid; siblings, Robert, Wilmer, Charles, Joseph, Rita, Ethel Jones, Lyle, Mark, Norma Bautch; and beloved in-laws.

Visitation will be held at Wozney Killian Funeral Home in Arcadia on Thursday, May 28th from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 29th at 11am at Holy Family Catholic Church in Arcadia with graveside services at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Glencoe, and luncheon fellowship to follow at the church. The family would like to thank Dr. Michael Dolan and nurse Deb from Gundersen/Emplify Health, Heather and Paige from Moments Hospice, and Father Kyle Laylan and the pastoral care team from Holy Family Parish.
