PLAYOFFS GAME PREVIEW: Cotter Baseball vs. GMLOK

By Liam Statz May 20, 2026 | 10:08 AM

(KWMN)- The #1 seed Cotter Ramblers (19-3) host the #16 seed GMLOK Bulldogs tonight for round one of the Section 1AA playoffs.

The Ramblers secured the #1 seed in the playoffs after a dominating 1903 regular season, which included a Three Rivers regular season title. The Ramblers went undefeated in the conference, in 10 games. Cotter is also ranked as high as #3 in the entire state of Minnesota in AA baseball. This post-season team will include 2026 South Region All Star Dane Guzzo, who was named to the All-Star team this past week by the MN Baseball Coaches Association.

The Ramblers finished the regular season by winning 11 of their last 12, including the last four games straight. Cotter had four different periods this season where they had at least a four-game winning streak. Their final game of the season was an inter-city matchup between Cotter and Winona High. It was a 2-1 win for the Ramblers over the Winhawks. In that game, a 2-run top of the second was enough for the Ramblers. Dane Guzzo and Devin Korder both reached, before Jameson Lynch launched a line drive to right field that scored Korder for the Ramblers’ only RBI of the game. Guzzo came across the plate on a passed ball, for the eventual game winning run.

Vince Frisch picked up the win on the mound, going five innings pitched while allowing no runs, and striking out four. Dane Guzzo came in relief in the 6th and picked up the save, striking out three.

The GMLOK Bulldogs finished with a 5-win season but won three of their last five games to end the season. The wins included a 10-run difference in a 13-3 win over Mabel-Canton, a 9-6 win over Goodhue. The Bulldogs finished tied for fourth place in the Southeast conference with Schaeffer Academy.

Tonight’s first pitch is scheduled for 5:00PM, with the pregame live at 4:45PM. Tune in at KWMN 99.3 FM, The Fan Winona, or by using the link below:
