(KWMN)- The Rushford-Peterson Trojans (12-11) were walloped by the Cotter Ramblers (17-3) in a Three Rivers East showdown.
The Ramblers brought the heat early, putting up five runs in the very first inning behind four hits. Rawson Sullivan led off with a double, and then Will Peterson sent one to dead-center field for a two-run homerun to break open the scoring. KJ Kreidermacher scored Donny Bauers with an RBI single, and then came across the plate after Lewi Shira knocked one out of the park for a two-run homerun of his own.
After holding the Trojans scoreless in the first, The Ramblers again put up five runs in the second, including a two-out grand slam from Saint John’s University commit Dane Guzzo. The Ramblers scored four more in the top of third behind doubles from KJ Kreidermacher and Rawson Sullivan.
Avery Tillman picked up the win for the Ramblers on the mound, going four innings with just three hits and one run allowed.
The only run from the Trojans came in the bottom of the third behind a two-out RBI double by Carson Johnson.
The Ramblers will close out conference play this Thursday, May 14th at home against Fillmore Central/Lanesboro. The Trojans end the season on the road against the Austin Packers this upcoming Saturday, May 16th.
