(KWMN)- The Winona Winhawks (9-4) sweep the season series against the Albert Lea Tigers (0-8), winning 10-2.
Winona traded blows early with Albert Lea, with each team scoring in the first three innings. The Winhawks got the upper hand in the bottom of the 3rd however, when Adyson Speltz scored Caitlyn Bauer on a one-out single to tie the game at 2-2. After reaching third on a fielder’s choice, Bauer came across home-plate after Lauren Indra beat a throw to first that trailed into right-field, for the Winhawks first lead of the night at 3-2. Winona never relinquished the lead again.
Adyson Speltz finished with four RBI and two hits, while Brittany Lee picked up her 8th win of the season. Lee allowed just two runs on seven hits, and had five strikeouts.
The Winhawks will travel to Byron to face the Bears in May, next Saturday the 2nd at 5:00PM.
