(KWMN)- The Ramblers (8-2) traveled St. Charles (6-6) to take on the Saints on Tuesday.
They started the game in 3-0 deficit after the first inning. A Jameson Lynch double to left field started the offense in the top of the second. With Rawson Sullivan hitting a 2 RBI-double to left center to help tie the game up in the top of the second. But the Ramblers gave up another run to trail 4-3 after two.
Macalister Nisbit entered the game in the bottom of the third, leading to multiple 1-2-3 innings to keep the score still. He only allowed one hit in three innings, giving the Rambler offense time to gel. The Ramblers could not capitalize on scoring position in the top of the fourth, they looked to find a kick of momentum to come back.
That kick came in the sixth with four runs scored by Cotter. Dane Guzzo, who finished the day 3-4 and two runs, kicked off a stretch of consecutive successful appearances. Will Peterson capitalized on the inning with another two-run double for scoring. He would make it home off of a sacrifice fly of Kellen Kreidermacher to earn the seventh run of the inning.
With a 7-3 lead heading towards the bottom of the seventh, it was up to the execution of the Rambler’s fielding to keep St. Charles at bay. The offenses popped out at the very end, giving the Saints three runs to get within a score, with a runner on third base. Sullivan field the tough grounder, throwing out the scoring run and closing the game 7-6.
The Ramblers move them up to 9-2, with a 5-0 record in the Three Rivers Conference. They will travel to Dover Eyota on Thursday, April 30th to take on Eagles.
The team sat down with Ramblers’ head coach Matthias O’Brien and coach Travis Peterson to discuss the game, which you can listen to here:
