Kenneth Westrud, 90, of Winona, MN, died Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Winona Health.

Kenneth was born April 8, 1935, in Brooten, MN, the son of Thilfred and Dinah (Johnson) Westrud. On June 15, 1959, he was united in marriage to Arlene Hermanson, and they made their home throughout the United States and France as he was serving in the Air Force. Following 20 years of honorable service to the United States Airforce, Ken retired from the military, and they settled in Winona in 1973 where they raised their four daughters. He continued his education at the Vocational School of Winona and began his secondary career as a tool and die engineer at Technigraph, where he worked with dedication until the age of 75. Ken’s meticulous and passionate mindset served him well, whether it was in the military, as a machinist, working on his cars, or woodworking. Ken was a loving husband and father, and there was nothing more important to him than his wife, Arlene, and his family.

He is survived by three daughters: Rhonda (Gary) Lorenz, Brenda (Tom) Schaefer, and Sheila (Larry) Thoeny; ten beautiful grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and brother, Tony Westrud.

He is preceded in death by his wife Arlene; daughter, Patricia Westrud; siblings: Elaine Carrier, and Mary Jane Lunderby.

Interment will be held Monday, March 30, 2026, at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Preston, MN, at 11am.
