Carolin Elizabeth Humfeld Deppa, 53, of Big Lake, MN passed away peacefully at her home on February 22, 2026, after several years of health challenges. She faced those challenges with strength, grace, and quiet determination. She was born on March 9, 1972, in Winona, MN, to Robert and Takako Humfeld.
Nothing was more important to Carolin than her family. She gave her time, her energy, and her whole heart to those she loved. Being an aunt was one of her greatest joys, and her nieces and nephew brought endless pride and happiness to her life.
Carolin especially treasured the simple traditions she shared with her husband — attending Minnesota Twins games, trips to the Minnesota State Fair, and hosting National Night Out. Football season meant cheering on the Minnesota Vikings with true die-hard devotion. At home, her collection of teddy bears reflected her sentimental nature and the happiness she found in life’s small pleasures. She was strong-willed and spirited, always remembered for her unmistakable laugh.
Carolin is survived by her husband, Timothy Deppa; her mother, Takako; her sister, Dianne (Gregg) Omoth; her beloved nieces and nephew, Amelia, Nolan, and Emma; and her son’s father, Eric Mirtica. She was preceded in death by her precious infant son, Teric Robert Mirtica, and her father, Robert.
A service celebrating Carolin’s life will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview. Visitation will take place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Carolin will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Hoff Celebration of Life Center is assisting the family.
