(MNN)-A Republican lawmaker is attempting to impeach Governor Tim Walz. Representative Mike Wiener of Long Prairie announced four charges, accusing the two-term DFL governor of failing to stop fraud in state programs, interfering with oversight, placing politics above proper administration, and neglecting his duty to uphold state laws. Wiener says he has been drafting the articles for two months and believes impeachment is a way to hold elected officials accountable. He says about 10 House members have expressed support. Walz has announced he’s not running for re-election.
