Cotter Girls Fall in Final Moments of First Home Game in the New Year

(KWMN)-The Cotter Ramblers (6-7) girls basketball team fell at home 50-52 in a tightly played game. The Dover-Eyota Eagles (8-4) got hot late in the second half to beat the Ramblers at home.

The Dover-Eyota Eagles got out to a large lead early in the 1st half, leading by as much as 10 at times. The Eagles got some excellent post-action from Abygail Griebenow, putting up 12 first half points.

The Ramblers, trailing by 8 going into the final 3 minutes, went on an unanswered 10-3 run, capped off by a last second three made by Macy Donnenwerth to tie the game at 30-30 going into half time.

The Ramblers got out on a hot start to the second half, stretching their lead to 10. The Eagles were on the ropes, but Dover-Eyota got a crucial couple of points from Izzy Johnson and Griebenow to keep Dover-Eyota within striking distance. Coming down the stretch, the Eagles closed to within 3. Izzy Johnson knocked through a fast four points, to let the eagles take the lead 51-50.

Forced to foul, Jayda Davis knocked down the first of 2 free throws to seal the game, 52-50.

The Ramblers were led offensively by Macy Donnenwerth with 18 points, followed by Maggie Sandcork with 10.
