(MNN)- Immigrant advocates are outraged over what they call excessive force during a federal operation on the East Side of St. Paul Tuesday. The Immigrant Defense Network says more than 200 neighbors gathered peacefully after reports of ICE and Homeland Security agents surrounding a home. Witnesses report tear gas, pepper spray, and rubber rounds were deployed, injuring several people, including at least one person hospitalized. Federal authorities confirmed one person was taken into custody but have not disclosed details. St. Paul officials say they received no advance notice of the operation.
