(KWNO)-The Winona City Council at its next meeting will consider renaming the Masonic Temple. The Winona Creative Commission Masonic Temple Subcommittee received more than 70 suggestions from the community and is recommending the Masonic Temple be rebranded as “The ARC,” an acronym for “Arts, Recreation and Culture.” The subcommittee “believes the name best reflects the activities and opportunities offered by the facility.”
The City of Winona began an HVAC project at the Masonic Temple in 2023 to bring it up to date and more recently entered into an agreement with the Great River Shakespeare Festival. GRSF will use the second and third floors of the building as an arts and cultural center.
