(MNN)-A court order by Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison and 20 other attorneys general has stopped the Trump administration’s order to eliminate the Department of Education. On Thursday, a Massachusetts district court judge agreed with the coalition’s claims that the move to fire half of the ED’s employees would be “illegal and unconstitutional.” The decision also orders that those fired in the recent mass layoffs of the department be reinstated. Ellison says he looks forward to continuing to litigate this case and stand up for our students, teachers, administrators, and paraprofessionals.
