(MNN)-The Minnesota Senate has passed this year’s Education Policy omnibus bill. The provisions include building a statewide consensus on what qualifies as a student absence, requiring districts to limit the use of cell phones in schools, allowing students to carry drugs like Narcan in case a fellow student suffers an opiate overdose, and supporting students with catastrophic injuries suffered during sports. The bill passed the Senate 39 to 26. Following passage in the House, the bill will go through conference committee to resolve any differences between the two chambers.
