(MNN)-April is Stress Awareness Month, and the University of Minnesota is offering some tips on how to deal with it. Dr. Justin Anker is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences and says stress can come from the people we surround ourselves with, so setting the correct boundaries can help. Anker says exercise, mindfulness practices, social support, and setting realistic goals can also help deal with stress. Persistent stress that isn’t dealt with can lead to a weaker immune system, raise the risk for heart disease, and cause digestive problems and strokes.
