Hey! I am not a psychologist or some fancy philosopher or some know it all, but I have learned a few things pretty young that I realize if I stick to, I am much better off than when I don’t listen to my own advice. Here are just five simple things that I have thought up that may help you live a bit happier.
1. DRINK WATER
This one is something obvious, but I know people forget. A lot of the funkiness you feel inside your body could probably be solved with a nice glass of water. If not solved it is a good place to start. You can never be to hydrated and so just make sure you are giving your body what it needs.
2. DEEP BREATHS
I know this sounds crazy to put down but sometimes you have got to just slow down and breathe. The world can get overwhelming, but you don’t have to carry everything on your shoulders all the time. Ground yourself and be present, it doesn’t even have to be super technical, just slow down, take in account of your setting, what’s around, check in with your five senses, and just breathe.
3. AFFIRMATIONS
This is something I practice every day on my show on KG 95.3, and everyone should be doing it. It is the moments of gratitude and saying kind things to yourself that maybe you forget to say. I like to write down a list of five to ten and make sure to do them once a day; I will change up the affirmations every week or so, or as I see fit for what’s happening in my life at the time. Otherwise write them on your mirror, your front door, your car dashboard, just continuously remind yourself how perfect you are as you are, and express that gratitude.
4. REMEMBER TO CRY
This one might seem weird to say since you are searching for a happier life, but I promise it is just as necessary. Crying and feeling all sorts of emotions is important to living a happy life. Letting out that energy in different ways is so healthy for the brain and body. The good wouldn’t feel so good if you were feeling it all the time. Be honest and vulnerable with yourself, or hey maybe even a nice pal. Just cry it out my friend, this too shall pass.
5. ALWAYS CHOSE PLAY
Obviously I am going to save the funniest one for last and that is just the reminder to play. Kids really know it best, and therefore you do too because you were once a kid. Playing around and giggling is so important. Allow yourself to dance and move, skip outside, play your favorite game. Life is too short for the mundane, do what makes you happy, do what makes you giggle, and surround yourself with lovely people to enjoy it with.
