Rose Ann McManimon, age 90, passed away peacefully in her home on December 16, 2024. She was born on October 25, 1934, to James and Alma Hurt on the family farm in Waseca, MN. Rose Ann was a farm girl through and through, and her seven sisters and brother had some crazy adventures throughout their childhood. Upon graduation from Medford High School as valedictorian, Rose Ann went into nurse’s training at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. She received a perfect score on the state nursing board exam and enjoyed working as a surgical nurse in neurology. Shortly after, her good friend Ione visited with her new husband Joseph. Joseph’s brother Edward happened to be with them, and he quickly asked Rose Ann out. About a year later on June 6th, 1959, they were married at Christ the King Catholic church in Medford, MN.
Rose Ann then moved to Oak Ridge and embraced the role of homemaker and mother to six beloved children, who were born over the following nine years. She washed countless diapers and dishes, made three meals a day for decades, tended a large garden, canned and preserved, sewed and crocheted, helped with the endless farm chores, and became a 4-H leader. She also encouraged her children to do their best at school and set a great example on the importance of education and reading. One of her favorite things to do in the evenings was reading the dictionary, which later evolved into solving difficult crossword puzzles.
When her youngest daughter was 10, Rose Ann returned to nursing at Good Shepherd nursing home for many years. She also became a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She and Edward had a strong Catholic marriage, and it was obvious how deeply they loved each other. They spent as much time together as they could while raising children and animals. When they retired from the farm, Rose Ann and Edward finally got to go on many vacations with family and friends. They also loved their time with the grandchildren and cherished watching them grow.
Rose Ann is survived by her children, Mark McManimon, Brian (Linda) McManimon, Beth (Vern) McManimon-Myers, Rich (Lavelle) McManimon, and Maureen (Dennis) Pronschinske; grandchildren Morgan (Jed) Taubel, Samara (Derek) Hupp, Cadence (Chris) Hogge, Mason (Ellen) McManimon-Myers, Raquela (Justin Snider) McManimon, Edison McManimon-Myers, Janessa McManimon-Myers, Jackson McManimon-Myers, Vinson McManimon-Myers, Emory (Jaden Eis) McManimon, Colton McManimon, Elise McManimon, Blaire (Drew) Reischl, Brooke (Walker) Larson, Irelynn (Dominic) Goldade, Isabelle (Isaac) Kramer, Rhett (Katie) Pronschinske, Reed Pronschinske, and Parker Pronschinske; great grandchildren Mireia, Maximilian, Dominic, Theodore, Benjamin, Nicholas, Luke, Colette, Zita, and Seth; siblings Genevieve, Agnes, JoAnn, Pauline, Kathleen, and Constance; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Don and Val McManimon.
