MN Pheasant season starts Saturday, Walz in Sleepy Eye for hunting opener

Oct 12, 2024 | 5:17 AM

Pheasant season in Minnesota starts Saturday. Governor and Democratic Vice-Presidential nominee Tim Walz will take a break from the campaign trail for the hunting opener.

“We are excited to celebrate the Governor’s Pheasant Opener in Sleepy Eye this year. I know they are rolling out the red carpet for us, for friends and family to head out and take a walk in the fields and hopefully find some birds,” said DNR Commissioner Sarah Strommen.

A valid small game license is required for hunting pheasants. Youth 13 years and younger may hunt small game, including pheasant, without a license but must be accompanied by a licensed parent or guardian.
