Voting by mail? Be aware of postal delays

By Jason Melillo Sep 23, 2024 | 10:11 AM

Minnesota voters who intend to mail in an absentee ballot for the November election should plan now. Secretary of State Steve Simon says there have been reports of US Postal Service delays.

“It’s not everywhere and Minnesota has fared better than many places across the country. But we just want to make sure that if you plan to vote by mail from home, that you’re requesting your ballot and returning your ballot early,” says Secretary of State Steve Simon.

Simon says absentee ballots must arrive at the voter precinct by 8 pm on Election Day November 5. Minnesotans can vote early in-person now at a local city or county office.
