WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-Dine out Downtown will come back this month.

The Winona City Council approved the event’s return on Monday. Dineout Downtown will be every Friday night starting May 21.

“This year will bring some more fun and engaging things downtown,” said Main Street Program Director Ben Strand. “We’ve got a bunch of ideas that we’ve conjured up among a group of people I’ve been working with. We are also looking for input from the community.”

Strand says community members with ideas can share them by calling the Winona Area Chamber of Commerce at 507-452-2272, emailing Bstrand@winonachamber.com, or by direct messaging the Winona Main Street Program’s Facebook page

3rd St. will be closed from Center to Walnut Streets from 4-10 p.m. The closures allow the downtown business to bring their seating, merchandise, and other offerings out onto the street for residents to enjoy.

Dineout Downtown started last year to help businesses hurt by COVID-19 shutdowns. Strand said this year’s event is seen more as an opportunity for downtown business, with the goal of bringing more foot traffic downtown.

Strand says some new ideas for this year include a farm-to-table food night, more live music from local bands as well as local art and entertainment.
