(KWNO)-The Winona County Board on Tuesday approving an emergency no wake zone on the Mississippi River due to high water levels and potential flooding. The emergency order is for 30 days and is now in effect for the entirety of the river within Winona County. It could be lifted early if water levels recede “to 0.1 below the elevation that triggers no wake for three consecutive days.” The Winona County Sheriff’s Office will monitor the river. Boaters violating the no wake zone will be fined up to $300. Goodhue and Houston Counties have also issued emergency no wake orders.
