WYATTVILLE, Minn. (KWNO)- A Hartford, Wis. man was apprehended after being surrounded by the Winona County Emergency Response Team Friday.
Winona County Chief Sheriff’s Deputy Jeff Mueller says authorities came across a vehicle near Mile Marker 248 on Interstate 90. He said authorities later learned the vehicle’s owner had an outstanding domestic abuse arrest warrant from the Milwaukee area, had a history of mental health issues, and making threats towards law enforcement.
Officials also learned the suspect may be armed and called in the Emergency Response Team. Mueller said the subject was arrested without confrontation and that officers recovered three firearms from the vehicle and a small amount of marijuana.
Officers say there was a passenger in the vehicle who was moving around and not engaging with officers.
The subject was referred to the Winona County Attorney for illegal possession of firearms and a small amount of marijuana. Authorities shut down I-90 while they dealt with the situation.
