(KWNO)-Lights at City Hall, the Lake Park Band Shell and the Levee Park patio shined bright in memory of Park Maintenance Superintendent Michael Durnen who passed away on November 17. The lights were on from dusk on Wednesday until dawn on Thursday with the Levee Park patio illuminated in purple and gold. Lights were also on until 10 p.m. at the Princess Wenonah Fountain, Gabrych Park Field, and Johnson Field #1.
Durnen worked for the City of Winona for 22 years as a park maintenance employee and fourteen of those years he also worked as a park recreation basketball official. Before joining the park department fulltime, Durnen worked for Winona Area Public Schools in the special education department.
