WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)- Meteorologists and wildlife officials are closely monitoring fire conditions today.
“Be real careful today. If you’re a smoker make sure your cigarette butts are out. I would hold off on any burning at all. I wouldn’t have recreational fires today,” said Winona County Emergency Management Coordinator Ben Klinger.
Klinger says the combination of dry vegetation, low humidity, and high winds allows fires to spread quickly with ease. Klinger says the DNR could issue a Red Flag Warning today, which bans all types of burning.
