Winhawk Football Warms Up Ahead of Matchup With Mound Westonka
(KWMN)- The Winhawk Football team look to go for three straight wins tonight to close out their regular season.
Last Thursday night, the Winhawks battled with Austin High, and the pouring rain, coming out victorious, 32-0.
With sheets and blankets of rain falling onto Paul Giel Field, the Winhawk offense strayed away from the passing game, and found a lot of success in the ground game. Deion Prolo, while only attempting three passes on the night, rushed for 100 yards and two touchdowns while his counterpart in the backfield, Jaden Blanck, went off for 209 yards on just 17 attempts and a touchdown.
The defense had their best night of the season so far, maybe the rain helped, but holding a team to 0 points is never easy, regardless of weather. As a team, they forced two fumbles and an interception on the night. Hopefully they can use this success as momentum moving forward.
The Winhawks offensive line led the way for the rushing attack, and the results showed. Although the great night on the ground, it was mostly due to weather, and the fact that the Warriors had a lead for the majority of the game. Head coach, John Cassellius, wants to go back to a more balanced offense moving forward, one that we would typically see from the Winhawks.
They’ll look to continue their winning ways tonight in Rochester as they face Rochester Century at 7:00 p.m. only on Real Country AM 1380 FM 101.5, coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. with the Ballin’ in the Bluffs pre-game show.
Head Coach, John Cassellius, joined the WSN to discuss the win, and what’s ahead for the Winhawks.
