(KWNO)- Staff from the Winona Hy-Vee delivered 25,000 gallons of water to residents of French Island near La Crosse this week.
The water came on five semi-trucks. Residents of French Island are under a water contamination advisory after environmental officials discovered PFAS chemicals leaked into the private wells of 4,300 residents on the island.
Hy-Vee estimates the truckloads will provide 4,000 residents with a weeks’ worth of water. The state of Wisconsin is also set to deliver bottled water to French Island residents over the next three months.
