(KWNO)-A Winona man pulled over for suspicion of drunken driving allegedly resisted arrest and had to be tased by police officers. Jonathan Catlin, 22, was stopped by police in the early morning hours of August 1 near the intersection of 6th Street and Laird Street. Police had observed Catlin weaving on 6th Street and Mankato Avenue before pulling him over.
Catlin gave a false name to officers and when they tried to arrest him for DUI Catlin become combative. Catlin struggled with officers and tried to run away. After issuing several verbal warnings to Catlin officers used their tasers to deliver a ‘drive stun,’ a technique used at close range that can shock a suspect but doesn’t incapacitate them. Officers tased Catlin three times before he finally stopped resisting and let officers handcuff him.
During the arrest three intoxicated female passengers in the vehicle got out and started yelling at officers. Two of the women are not 21 and were cited for underage drinking.
