Olympic gymnastics trials coming to Minneapolis

(KWNO)-The best gymnasts in the U.S. are coming to Minnesota. Gov. Tim Walz announcing the 2024 U.S. Gymnastics Olympic Trials for men and women will be at Target Center June 27-30. The trials give athletes the opportunity to secure a spot of Team USA for the 2024 Olympic Summer Games in Paris.

Gold-medalist Suni Lee joined Walz for the announcement. “Watching the Olympians who came before was such an inspiration when I was growing up, and it means so much to know the young athletes of Minnesota will have a chance to be inspired by the best gymnasts in America,” said Lee. The St. Paul native, who won gold in 2021, stepped away from gymnastics at Auburn University citing health concerns. But she is expected to compete for a spot in Paris and should be a favorite to make the team.
