(KWNO)-Shelly Milek will step down as Executive Director of the Foundation for Winona Area Public Schools. Milek has led the independent, non-profit for almost 12 years helping to establish new programs and grant opportunities. Luke Merchlewitz will become the Interim Executive Director on September 1.

Merchlewitz is currently the board president for Foundation WAPS and taught at Washington-Kosciusko Elementary School for 36 years. The Foundation for Winona Area Public Schools is funded by community and business supporters of education in Winona.
