A gun in a locked case was found in the street near Hy-vee and Aldi on Tuesday, according to Winona police. The case had apparently been run over but the gun was not damaged. Officers secured the weapon and determined it was not stolen.
Winona Police Chief Tom Williams said the gun could’ve fallen out of a vehicle but said he couldn’t be certain how it ended up in the street. Claiming the gun will require proof of ownership such as a key for the lock on the case, serial number of the weapon or purchase papers, according to Williams.
