(KWNO)- Friday April 14, marks the deadline for K-12 teachers across Minnesota to nominate their classroom projects for full or partial grant funding through Western Governors University’s (WGU) ‘Fund My Classroom’ initiative.
WGU, a fully online and non-profit university is pledging up to $100,00 in grant money across the state and three other midwestern states for K-12 teachers who have “Innovative ideas that will further engage their students but need funding to help bring these ideas to life,” says a press release from WGU.
A teacher can nominate themselves, and others can nominate a teacher on their behalf. Submissions for proposed projects are due at the end of the day on Friday, April 14 and can be submitted at wgu.edu/fundmyclassroom.
Selected classroom projects will be announced during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 8-12.
WGU says that K-12 educators can request funding for any type of innovative classroom projects they believe would provide an enriching classroom experience for their students. That could be books, supplies, and equipment or technology or classroom experiences and field trips. WGU continues to say that in order to be considered, proposed projects must include a description detailing how much funding is needed and how the proposed project will benefit students. Both public and private school teachers are encouraged to submit applications.
