(KWNO)- The Fools Five Race for cancer research is returning for its 45th year with the theme of “You are…the inspiration,” with an auction being held on Friday, March 31, and the race on April 1.
The auction on the 31st will be held at the Lewiston Community Center at 5:00 p.m. with doors opening at 4:00 p.m. The race will begin at 1:00 p.m. the day after on Main Street in Lewiston, Minn.
“We are looking forward to our 45th year of the Fools Five Road Race! Come join us as we usher in spring by walking or running with family and friends,” said Judy Hovelson, co-race director.
The other co-race director, Dan Goss, continued to say, ” Many things have changed since we started in 1979, but the one thing that hasn’t is YOU: your commitment to funding cancer research, to supporting those impacted by cancer, and to continue our cause.”
The family-friendly road race has a one-mile race as well as a USTA certified 8K race. One hundred percent of the donations received will go towards cancer research.

There will be guest speakers at the event who includes Crystal Eide and Lisa Hoover. Crystal runs the Caleb Eide Memorial Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to the memory of her son, Caleb. Hoover is a beneficiary of the foundation and will speak as well.
In 2022, over $89,000 was raised from the Fools Five Race.
