(KWNO)- The driver that fled from officers in the early morning hours of Friday, December 23rd, has been identified and charges have been recommended to the County Attorney.
The Driver, 34-year-old Javier Barrientos of Winona, was referred charges of Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle and Careless Driving.
Although expected of being intoxicated, the WPD did not have the necessary evidence to refer a DUI charge.
The Winona Police Department submitted a long form referral to the County Attorney’s Office, and they will make the decision to file formal charges or not. Because Barrientos is not under custody at this time, this process could take a while, according to the WPD.
