Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Winona Woman

(KWNO)-At 1:07 a.m. on Wednesday, December 7th, Elizabeth Marie Berns, age 25, of Winona, was arrested for DWI after she was stopped on Sarnia and Wilson.

Berns failed to stop at a red light at Sarnia and Huff while making a right turn and was pulled over by police.

When the officers made contact, they noted that Berns appeared to be intoxicated, and upon questioning, she admitted to drinking at a local bar establishment in the downtown area prior to driving.

Berns failed several field sobriety tests and was subsequently brought to the local jail, where she agreed to take the state-certified DMT (Data Master Test) with a result of 0.13%, which is a fourth-degree DWI misdemeanor, the lowest level of DWI.

Berns was cited, booked, and released to a sober party.
