(KWNO)-The Minnesota Milk Producers Association, a state advocacy group, along with the Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative, one of the largest dairy co-ops in the country, jointly announced a newly formed agreement to strengthen both organizations’ work on behalf of farmers.
The Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative was chosen by the Minnesota Milk Producers Association to replace the administrative and program services that are currently provided by Midwest Dairy.
Switching providers was the result of a decision by the Minnesota Milk Producers Association’s board of directors to focus additional efforts by the organization on state policy.
Midwest Dairy will continue to be a valuable partner for Minnesota farmers.
Lucas Sjostrom will continue as executive director of the Minnesota Milk Producers Association as part of the Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative staff, carrying out the policies of the farmer-led Minnesota Milk Producers Association board on policy, policy education, and membership, in conjunction with other Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative staff as necessary.
The partnership will allow the Minnesota Milk Producers Association to tap into resources and grow member voices, increasing the organization’s focus on state-level policy while giving Edge Dairy Farmer Cooperative members improved representation in Minnesota.
