(Learfield) The Minnesota D.N.R. is reminding anglers that permanent ice houses need to be removed from lakes in the southern two-thirds of the state by March 1st.
The state’s inland waters run along a line from Highway 10 on the west to Highway 34 to Highway 200 to Highway 2 on the Minnesota-Wisconsin border. The state is just thawing out from a brutal cold snap but the deadline is still Monday at midnight.
Conservation officers say it’s illegal to leave garbage and debris on the ice. The deadline for permanent shelters in the northern third of Minnesota is March 15th.
