MDH Dashboard: No PFAS Detected in Winona

By TJ Jun 8, 2022 | 11:25 AM

(KWNO)-Tests of Winona’s and Goodview’s public water systems did not detect PFAS chemicals.

That’s according to a newly launched PFAS detection dashboard from the Minnesota Department of Health. The two wells impact over one-third of public water system users in Winona County.

The dashboard shows officials are in the process of testing six more water systems across the county. Statewide MDH says the vast majority of tested systems either have no PFAS or levels below the community health concern threshold.

Health officials say higher levels of exposure to PFAS are associated with a wide range of human health effects including higher cholesterol, changes to liver function, reduced immune response, thyroid disease and more.
