18 Winona County Dairy Farms Recognized for Health of Cows

ST. PAUL (KWNO)-18 Winona County dairy farmers are receiving state recognition for the health of their cows.  

Earlier this month Minnesota Agriculture Commissioner Thom Peterson released an annual list featuring 114 Minnesota dairy farms with low somatic cell counts in their herds. Ag officials say the lower counts are better for cheese production and indicate higher quality milk along with a longer milk shelf life. 

A press release from the state ag department says the lower counts also fetch farmers a better price for their dairy products. For the full list of recognized dairy farms click here.

Six Minnesotans filed suit Thursday against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security, alleging agents unlawfully entered homes without judicial warrants.
