WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-Families, schools and businesses are encouraged to practice their tornado warning protocols on Thursday.
There are two statewide tornado warning drills scheduled for 1:45 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. as part of Severe Weather Awareness Week.
Winona County will be among the communities that will sound their sirens during the drill.
“We run the sirens twice so that you’re able to practice at work and at school and then in the evening at home,” Winona County Emergency Management Coordinator Ben Klinger said. “Go over your plans ahead of time then walk through them when the training warning is issued.”
NOAA Weather Radios will also be active during the drills using test wording, according to the National Weather Service La Crosse.
