City Council to Discuss Public Safety Building

Winona City Council meeting on 11-15-21

WINONA, Minn. (KWNO)-The Winona City Council is set to hold an informational session on possibly constructing a public safety building.

The possibility of the building arose as a solution to a lack of space at the Winona Police Department and Central Fire Station. The city’s rental agreement is set to expire at the Winona County Law Enforcement Center in 2024, and staff told the council a new agreement would likely be more expensive.

Councilmembers were told last March that expanding the PD’s space on the second floor of the law enforcement center and adding more space to the Central Fire Station could be more costly than housing the departments in a newly-constructed public safety building.

The session begins at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
